Start with a question and a source
Ask an agent: “Build a view for this client’s weekly campaign report. Show spend, leads, cost per lead and a table of campaigns. Name the sources and reporting period, show missing data as unknown, and tell me how you will refresh it.” The agent must have access to the actual source data through its runtime or integrations.
Views support numbers with deltas, line and bar charts, tables, lists, notes and progress bars. A view is a persistent page in Emperor; rich chat replies are messages in a conversation.
Choose the audience deliberately
A view requested in a private agent chat starts private. Set the audience to Private, Shared with… selected people, or Everyone who can access its company, client or project. Sharing a view does not grant access beyond that underlying scope.
The owner and selected readers can see its contents. Company owners and admins outside a private view may see its existence, owner and maintainer, but cannot read its panels or numbers. Admins can transfer ownership or delete it without gaining the previous owner’s private contents.
Assign an agent to keep it useful
The building agent starts as maintainer. The owner, or an owner/admin who can open the view, can choose another eligible agent or none through Maintained by. Agents cannot reassign the maintainer themselves.
The maintainer needs scope covering the view and retains access when its visibility changes. With no maintainer, no agent can refresh it. Narrowing the audience explains the access change before you confirm.
Check freshness before acting on a number
Each panel records when it was updated and which agent updated it. If a declared refresh interval is missed, the view shows an overdue warning. This is a freshness signal, not proof that the external source was correct.
Use Ask about this panel to open your private chat with the maintainer and a prepared question. Ask for the source, time range and calculation when a figure is surprising. Request refreshes through the maintainer and configure recurring collection as an automation where needed; a view does not automatically supply external data connectors.
Find, pin and restore views
Views are grouped by company, client and project, with Mine, Shared with me and Pinned filters. Client and project pages expose their views too. Pin useful ones to your Home; pins are personal. Inspect earlier versions and revert a bad update rather than asking the agent to recreate a private view elsewhere.
If Views is absent, ask an owner or admin whether the company’s Views module is enabled. Disabling the module preserves its data.
Pair a view with an automation
For a weekly operations review, use an automation to collect sources and produce a report, then ask the view’s maintainer to update the relevant panels with the verified results. Keep the run evidence on the task, the deliverable in Storage and the dashboard as the current summary.
